What's new? Wondercon, hot off the presses and memory cards. Film, as usual, will come later - boy, it's backing up now. The photo developers are shopping for new sports cars, in anticipation of my films. Since we have 2 different coverages of Wondercon, I'll give the index directory as a link, instead of going directly to one or the other.
And you know - 3 years ago, I said I'd never go to Wondercon again - I spent less than an hour there. But now, it's grown, and the anime contingent has grown as well. I retract my statement, now, it's a pretty good thing. I spent 10 hours there today.
Oh yeah, the photos. I managed to catch Lara Croft on the way out, after I'd given up on finding her again. Now I can sleep peacefully. (hate to miss a good costume.)
Wondercon, and more
Shot mere hours ago, the San Jose Comic and Anime show - these are in the user photos directory, or just click the archives link below. Feel free to drop into the forum, too... we have a no censorship policy. You really have to offend one of us before we clamp down.
NEW: I've dug into the archives, and pulled out the older photos - Fanime 98 to AX 2000 are in one directory, AX 2001 has it's own. Some of the shots/scans are not really up to my standards, but here they are for historical observation. It's kind of fun to see how cosplayers and their costumes have evolved over the years, along with my con photography.
The Archives
Welcome to the new year - and with the new year, a new format for us here. We're spreading out a little, and expanding from the basic photos into a complete online magazine for cosplay, California style. (Not that we're limited to CA - whenever we can afford to go elsewhere, we'll be there. Send us tickets, heh heh.)
We are taking submissions for articles, concerning cosplay, sewing, photography, conventions, and pretty much anything related to the con scene. No money. Just glory here. As you can see, we are still ad-free, and hope to stay that way forever. And although not many people are active on our forums, we have a massive amount of traffic dropping by to have a look - so, submit an article. Get your name out in the media world.
Private photoshoots? Certainly. Come on down. Everything is negotiable, and pretty cheap. Check out PM's photoshoot for examples. This is an indoor (hotel room, pretty cramped) shoot we did at AniMagic. PM AniMagic shoot We're located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Check out the forums while you're here. Our hard core center users are quite unique, and say some pretty interesting things. And sometimes they say some stupid things. But generally, it's worth looking at, for entertainment value.
Experts? We got experts. Ask us about photography. Ask PM about costuming. Ask Innhel about absolutely anything from the 80's Japanese idol scene. Ask me about bass guitar, if you want; or how to powerslide a front wheel drive vehicle. We knows stuff. Ask us if an anime is good (you'll get half a dozen different answers, but maybe it'll help.}
Our Grand Cosplay Competitions will officially commence with our first con of the year. Rules and updates will be posted in the Grand Cosplay Forum (access it through forums, or just by clicking the banner below.) We will update this page with our next scheduled cons on a regular basis.
Next Scheduled Con: AnimeOD, unless I'm around for WonderCon.
