Anime OD’s Big Hit
Contact: Nancy Wong

Applauses and applauses is deserved for coordinators of Anime Overdose (Anime OD)!   For all you J-rock fans and wonderful supporters to J-fashion, show your love for Anime OD for bringing us Psycho le Cemu (PLC)!

In the past year Anime Overdose was a small local con, with barely over 200 attendees.  I has been a small simple con for lovers of anime and j-rock groups, never had it reached the size it did this year!  With fans flying in from the East Coast and Seattle, Washington so they can view and pose with their favorite j-rock artist.  This was such a treat to us locals in the Bay Area.

Attracting groups even outside of anime and cosplayers this con hit a successful cord by bringing in one of the hottest bands of the year!  Kudos!  I personally was very excited to see the band.  My favorite of the group is Yura-sama, the drummer of the band.  I swooned seeing him live on stage.  For fan girls like me it was fantastically worth paying for all 3 days of the convention just so I can see them play twice, since my badge permitted me for both shows.  For non-con goers who paid at the door the fee was $40.00 per ticket.  What a great deal for the pre-registered folks.

All three days the con was just bustling with activities.  Although the venue was a little small for the crowd many made due with the space and displayed their fandom through their art of cosplay efforts.  To see the spectacular effort and display of love for PLC simply google “AOD cosplay” and you will find an array of photos from the many cosplayers that attended the event.  You will be wowed by the quality and support of the US fans.  Many give the Japanese cosplayers a run for the money.

Centered in the big city of San Francisco many attendees enjoyed the variety of sights and food places they can visit after con hours.  A couple of blocks down either direction from the convention you can find old town dinners, chic restaurants, fast foods, and quaint bakeries.  Most of the time cosplayers feel intimidated to leave the convention, but in San Francisco the citizens embraces new sights and passing tourists will want a picture to take home with making.

Pleasantly surprising for a fairly young convention Anime OD was excellent in keeping the events moving and on time.  Everything ran smooth, logistics was taken care of spectacularly, much better than even some of the seasoned conventions like Sakura Con, Seattle and even Fanime, San Jose.  Lines were taken care of accordingly and staff is friendly.

I had a wonderful weekend at this convention, and I hope they can maintain the same spirit the next year.  Definitely worth returning to.
